A comedic anthology web series about romantic relationships and their sometimes war-like quality.
Producer Timothy Chan brought me on as the scriptwriter in the summer of 2023, and we developed each of the stories as a team effort, so as to capture his vision for the series before I wrote each script.
Timothy managed the budget, casting, and technical side of productions, while I directed the actors and assisted Timothy during the production and pre-production process.
This was a tremendous opportunity to develop my collaborative writing skills, as well as to work on set and better understand the production process. While there are only four episodes listed here, more episodes are in post-production.
ROMANCE CITY UNIVERSITY
Crazy Ex Girlfriend Ruined My Life, Now She Wants Me Back!
Millionaire's Daughter Dumps Country Boy
Goth Girl vs Popular Sister FIGHT Over Richest Boy In School
A sci-fi/thriller short film about technology, its promise of connecting us, and its inevitable failure to do so.
I partnered with producer and gaffer Daniel Brenner in early 2024, and while I worked on the script, Danny raised funds. We eventually brought on board Hayes Botnick as our video editor, Arturo De Las Fuentes (who had DP'ed on World War Romance and directed a plethora of music videos) as cinematographer and co-director, and Steven Navarro as sound recordist. With a tiny budget and equally small cast and crew, I picked out props, costumes, and several locations for our 9-day shoot in August, while Danny brought his filming equipment and Arturo his technical expertise.
This was an amazing opportunity for me to refine the directing and production skills I had learned from WWR, as well as to refine my leadership and project management skills, now that I was in charge of budgeting, casting, and production management.
Entity is currently in post-production and gearing up for release in May 2025.
I wrote the original script for Void back in my college junior year screenwriting class, and by graduation, I'd decided I wanted to develop it into an audio drama as a proof of concept.
In the summer of 2023, I signed Timothy Chan on as my producer/editor, and cast Robert Prescott--known for Bachelor Party (1984), Real Genius (1985), and Spaceballs (1987)--as the lead. Casting actors from Backstage and getting my friends and family to fill the smaller parts, I concluded production that fall, and Timothy and I worked on post-production until its release at the beginning of 2024.
